ABOUT US:

We are two life-long, never-say-die woodcraft artisans intent on defying old age atrophy in our golden years. We’re doing just that by being fully, joyfully committed to reviving the oldest form of American folk art…weathervanes !…made the old fashion way. We call them WindWoods for the reason that our ornaments -- the crowning glory of any weathervane – are all-wood crafted and resplendent in vivid, artisan-painted color. Americana revisited. Our combination of wood and paint is to be found today only as a rare antique (worth a small fortune) or in a pricey reproduction by a commissioned artist. Our creations are perceived by many owners to have rarity attributes but at affordable prices.

As next- door neighbors and kindred spirits in woodcraft artistry we joined together in partnership as Palm Coast (Florida) Artisans Unlimited. We hasten to note that we are “Unlimited” if a ornament is feasible in wood and paint … and that we do not completely forego a bit of time out for golf and fishing!

I recently retired as the founder (and resident “Geppetto”) of Woodendipity Inc - A Guild of Tree Lance Artists located in Upstate New York. Over a period of twenty years the Guild achieved international acclaim for creating an array of world-class, functional folk art sculptures for home and garden. Our signed, dated and numbered works (over 70,000 pieces) brought daily smiles to life in their functions as artful road side mailboxes, garden planters, life size figures of waiters, butlers, etc., wild bird and pet feeders - and – the only grandfather clock that looked like … a grandfather!

Upon retirement, over 200 of my design copyrights passed on to other artisan sources --- all except my last, most personally prized collection of WindWood weathervanes. Thus so, today we are happy and busy whittling this collection for those who have discovered us at www.weathervaneworld.com.

Several years ago, upon retirement from my U.S.Air Force career as a navigator and meteorologist, I reactivated my life-long avocational pursuit of fine wood working … and the many related skills involved in endless home remodeling for family and friends.

My neighbor/partner , Robert, is of the opinion that my skills for navigating in-flight refueling missions are evident in my loving respect for precision wood working. And, (with tongue-in-cheek), he also notes that my meteorological knowledge brings valuable insight to designing and building weathervanes!
